Denver Airport claims: 3 calculations

The airport has a basement. And a workload.

Underground trains, a conspicuous runway pattern and a baggage system that really failed. Follow the airport’s physical jobs through the operating records, then change the numbers yourself.

FILE 09 / 01

The concourse connection

The observation

Passengers descend below the terminal to travel between the airport’s separated concourses.

The claim

The underground network is treated as space left over after the airport’s ordinary needs.

The finding

The train service has a documented passenger job. Its operating configuration turns underground space into recurring boarding capacity.

A pattern with a wind direction

The observation

The runway layout places long strips of pavement along different axes around the terminal.

The claim

The conspicuous arrangement is treated as evidence of a purpose beyond aviation.

The finding

For a 20-knot example wind from 61° true, the published runway axes produce crosswinds of 17.32 and 10 knots. The orientation changes the sideways wind an aircraft encounters.

The baggage system that missed its cue

The observation

The original automated baggage machinery missed transfers and jammed beneath the airport.

The claim

Its failure is treated as evidence that the elaborate infrastructure served another purpose.

The finding

GAO recorded synchronization faults. At the documented design maximum, a hypothetical 50-millisecond error displaces a receiving target by 0.536 metres.
